Goals and Objectives... why do people set these in their lives? What will it be like to fulfill them? And alternatively, what will it be like to not even complete or you were to do it half-hearted?

I never really thought about this questions until today. I always thought that if i can't do it, then so be it. I shall move on to another matter. However, what Wolf told me today was true and what I shared with Wisdom Keeper and Wombat was a really major turn in our lives. It really set me thinking, what does it makes of me to do things that is my responsibility yet I didn't do it with my honour and to the best of my capabilities. Am I just an average joe out there? (No offence, just a neutral statement). Or am I made for a greater good and betterment of the society?

I shared with the Siglap Rovers who were present earlier on some thinking questions. One of which was surprise that he didn't thought of that throughout his life in scouting, let alone life itself. Who do we want to be in the future and what are our purpose mean to us in scouting or in life?

To an average scout, it would be his dreams and ambitions. Good for the boy.

To an average venture, it would be his dreams, ambitions and goals in life. Good for the boy.

To an average rover or leader, it would mean more than these mentioned. It would meant what his is purpose in the scouting scene and how he defines himself as a member of the society. Not the scouting society only, but of the Whole World.

A difference between a rover and a Rover rover is basically how he act upon what he says and how he feels about things. Even in life, why do some people are being so successful in life, while others just waste away? Is it the environment? Is it the people around him? Or is it himself?

Standing by the person you love... is it just because it is your duty? or is it just purely out of love? It doesn't take much time to really spend time with your love ones. It doesn't take much effort. For those who look beyond the earthly and material gifts will eventually realise something greater and simpler that motivates the relationship.

Some may complain that my boyfriend or girlfriend isn't spending much time with me or bah bah bah... however, are you doing the same? Or are you just not doing anything productive in your own life, thus wanting to find other avenues to fit in? Wolf mentioned a sense of belonging. I agree that people (regardless of age, sex, language, religion and race) will want a sense of belonging somehow or another.

Some can fit in well... some just can't. So what's next?

I can't say that I am the perfect boyfriend or let alone husband material. There isn't perfection in everyone eyes. People have their own expectation in the relationship and of coz' would like to see it through. However, can one's expectation really co-exist in the relationship together? I don't know.

Success... is it just a matter of attitude? Or does it mean more than that? A lot of people will agree to this statement, however the question is... what kind of attitude? I recently found out that I have short-temper with regards to my attitude in scouting and the relationship. Perhaps, I'm too used to being happy-go-lucky that I fail to withstand the negative feelings that other people are feeling. I know it's dumb to bring in other people's feelings into my own life. However, being a logical person isn't always right. Sometimes in life, you got to be emotional too. Or else you are just a piece of stone.

Well, much said and done... I'm looking forward to more sharing sessions with my fellow brothers and sisters as I am paddling my own canoe out to venture more and to rover more. At the same time, I am also looking forward to more dating in the relationship... right Marlinne?

I've done up my Rover Logbook cum Diary. Next up, is the diary of the Marlin and Marlinne. Time to print pictures and test my art skills! Loves...

Inadequacy, based on the dictionary, is the quality or condition of being inadequate or insufficient.

In this World, nothing seems adequate for humans. There always seems to be an area that they feel that they lack of. And as such, worked hard or even think of ways to cover it up. However, as human advances, he or she will discover more areas that they are insufficient of and thus work even harder and harder.

It's weird, but that's life.

In the economy, there are demand and supply. There is loop-holes that some people (who can spot it), took advantage of and earn from there. For example, tourism studies wasn't a really 'hot' issue in a decade ago. However, due to the booming economy and people realizing that there is a need for it... people started to rush into that area of study. That's just an example.

In a relationship, there are constraints and other matters. Perhaps, financially, whereby the couples do not have the spending power or earning capacity to date or go even an overseas trip together. There is a constraint on what they can do together, besides sexual matters and stuff. Parents, maybe a concern too.

So many inadequacies in life... how does one manage to be happy with his or her life with it? Are you happy of what you have now?

Well, why am I saying all these? I just look out of the box in my life and observe and talked to several people about their lives... sometimes, life isn't smooth going for some, while others have a fortune that can last for many generations... but what do people do about it?

Have you ever wonder how it is like sitting in a restaurant and staring out of the window?

A lady riding on a skate scooter went by, a couple of people loitering around and cars zooming by as birds flew by too. The environment in the restaurant covers the sound of the outside with its atmosphere. It was a day out with mei mei and her twin, Sunshine.

Well, it has been sometime since I had a feast out till I nearly puke. That day was just a surprise day of shopping. However, there weren't clothes or gifts to shop around for, the main agenda was to shop for food to eat. I wouldn't say its junk food as people do enjoy eating them.

So many things had change since the last time we met... Some grew, some shrink. Some became so pre-occupied in life that time for their friends and love ones were merely non-existent in their lives. She asked, how do you know if you treasure someone or something very much?

I don't know. My reply was simply, where the person dies, and you think back the times you had with him or her... perhaps then, will you know how precious he or she is to you. Or similarly, if you have lost something, only through that experience, will you know how important that item is, in your life.

Pressure, stress, expectation to excel and ambition, it comes as a package to make a person either to drive crazy or to drive on in life. There is no stopping on how the person will react to these situations. Some may crack down, some just a plain persistent in doing it their ways or even some just glide through it with a smile on the face. Different people have different worries. Different people have different objectives in life.

For me, its just to live simply. I dreamt of being a star, I dreamt of being the President once, I even dreamt of having piles and piles of money to spend. However, when I wake up and face reality... I just smile and live by it. Its not that I am a bum or sort of. I'm just taking life easily.

When my time is up, I have to go.... no one is gonna tell God to stop and let me live on. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust... people come and go. Whether there is incarnation or resurrection in life... we will not know until we experience it. The best way to feel confident in ourselves is through experience. Only then will we know what to expect and how to deal with it.

Without the experience, we will have to live by uncertainty. Ever heard of 'O' Level graduates teasing those who are about to take their major exams, such as: "What is 'O' Level? What are exams?" Some may think, why do they say that... simple reason. They have been through it and survive it. Surviving 'O' Level isn't really just about the result slip that you will receive at the end of the day. But having to live through it... at least you didn't commit or even attempted suicide successfully for it, that's what I meant. If you do, look back and feel a little foolish if you really did what you want to do then.

Well, at the end of each day. Do we really think about how are we going to live life tomorrow? Do we really think about what happened in the day that we survived through this Earth?

I guess... many just live by and when the time you look back into such things... perhaps you are already sitting down telling stories after stories to your grandchildren or just thinking as you watch the last sunrise of your life.

It's been a long time since I blog, like a few days. It's been a week of slacking now!! Yeah!!

I've read one quote from USA President Obama, "Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, program will end." I like this quote as, to my interpretation, it means that I'll make it happen only if it is beneficial to the country (or in my context, the unit).

Currently, my term as a Scout Leader, it's rather been seen as 'slack'. Actually, I don't know, perhaps its the way I want things to be. I know lots of people is going to read this, but well, whatever.

Let me explain my vision for White Stag:

1. To be self-sufficient in running of the unit by the PLC, with the assistance in training from the Ventures, Rovers and Leaders section.

2. To allow the 4 sections to cohesively work together so as to bring the whole troop to a whole new level of Scouting.

3. To ensure that all White Stags are given the opportunity to exercise their leadership, adventures and ideas of Scouting.

Wolf told me once, "Do it to make things happen, not just talk about it." I agree, so many people can talk about big ideas and dreams, however without doing it, how can one realize their ideas or dreams...?

Therefore, in White Stag, I would like to see the young boys and leaders to try out without the fear of making mistakes. Only through these mistakes, then will one learn to improve for their next stage in Scouting (be it in the unit, district, national or international level).

Other quotes that I liked over the years include "We believe we can achieve". That was the quote and vision given by the then Principal Mr Sapii of Siglap Secondary School. It was really a point of inspiration for many of the Siglapians to work towards their dreams in life.

After all, in life, wherever and whenever we graduate from school... the ultimate aim is to be a good and useful citizen. A citizen of the World.

To study or not to study? For examinations or against examinations? What will it be?

Singapore's education system has been generally based on examinations and grades, for most of its years. I got to agree that at some point, teachers have to break away from the old school, chalk and blackboard teaching, and try on to new innovative teaching methods. I've seen my share of innovative teaching methods, some work, some doesn't. However it's worth the try.

Parents have always been a force to reckon with, when it comes to their children's education matters. There was a time, where teachers were a force to reckon with, as they know what they are teaching and took much pride in bring the standards. However, as time passes by, the parents seems to be the force that the Government is being pressured to make changes for. Why? I don't know.

Similarly, there was a time, where people would on be so rude, or senseless into scolding or venting their anger on service staff. However, nowadays, if you ask any call centres, or receptionist, their usual response would be: "Haiz, got to live with it ba...". Why? Has people gone insane with their time, their money, their attitudes?

Talking about complain kings and queens... some people just couldn't be satisfied with their lives, even if they did receive what they asked for, they would want for more.

Today's World Debate on BBC World News... The topic was mainly on the World Financial Crisis... I wasn't surprise though, as the meltdown either is still melting or have only blown bigger... From the leaders or panel of speakers knew of the existing problems and are trying their best to fight against it. That's good, I encourage that actually. The President of Guyana, spoke that the people who are affected the most are those who are in the lower tier of the country (mainly, the poor citizens). I agree too. So what's next?

Is it the time to find out whose fault is for the Crisis to happen? Or is it time to put this aside first, and save the World?

Similarly, in Scouting, whenever something goes bad... people will start finding who is going to be accountable for this or that. If so, who are the ones that will be making the reversal and making it happen? Everyone has a choice to make things happen (within your capabilities and resources), but is everyone doing that?

Just like Nike's slogan: Just do it. It is just a simple phrase... however in this real World, it applies until when risk management, objectives, proposals, time line, public relations and etc etc, adds up to a whole new level... sometimes, scouting is just plain having fun in whatever you are doing... If you do not enjoy during the meetings, even if it means meeting up with your other brothers and sisters, then why are you still here?

Back to basics... that's what most of us will think... how back and how basic will things get? Will we be able to re-create what B.P. did when he first started out? I don't know.

Whatever it is, enjoy life... enjoy it well. Enjoy the things you do, or else, why live life?!
