To study or not to study? For examinations or against examinations? What will it be?
Singapore's education system has been generally based on examinations and grades, for most of its years. I got to agree that at some point, teachers have to break away from the old school, chalk and blackboard teaching, and try on to new innovative teaching methods. I've seen my share of innovative teaching methods, some work, some doesn't. However it's worth the try.
Parents have always been a force to reckon with, when it comes to their children's education matters. There was a time, where teachers were a force to reckon with, as they know what they are teaching and took much pride in bring the standards. However, as time passes by, the parents seems to be the force that the Government is being pressured to make changes for. Why? I don't know.
Similarly, there was a time, where people would on be so rude, or senseless into scolding or venting their anger on service staff. However, nowadays, if you ask any call centres, or receptionist, their usual response would be: "Haiz, got to live with it ba...". Why? Has people gone insane with their time, their money, their attitudes?
Talking about complain kings and queens... some people just couldn't be satisfied with their lives, even if they did receive what they asked for, they would want for more.
Today's World Debate on BBC World News... The topic was mainly on the World Financial Crisis... I wasn't surprise though, as the meltdown either is still melting or have only blown bigger... From the leaders or panel of speakers knew of the existing problems and are trying their best to fight against it. That's good, I encourage that actually. The President of Guyana, spoke that the people who are affected the most are those who are in the lower tier of the country (mainly, the poor citizens). I agree too. So what's next?
Is it the time to find out whose fault is for the Crisis to happen? Or is it time to put this aside first, and save the World?
Similarly, in Scouting, whenever something goes bad... people will start finding who is going to be accountable for this or that. If so, who are the ones that will be making the reversal and making it happen? Everyone has a choice to make things happen (within your capabilities and resources), but is everyone doing that?
Just like Nike's slogan: Just do it. It is just a simple phrase... however in this real World, it applies until when risk management, objectives, proposals, time line, public relations and etc etc, adds up to a whole new level... sometimes, scouting is just plain having fun in whatever you are doing... If you do not enjoy during the meetings, even if it means meeting up with your other brothers and sisters, then why are you still here?
Back to basics... that's what most of us will think... how back and how basic will things get? Will we be able to re-create what B.P. did when he first started out? I don't know.
Whatever it is, enjoy life... enjoy it well. Enjoy the things you do, or else, why live life?!
