It's been a long time since I blog, like a few days. It's been a week of slacking now!! Yeah!!
I've read one quote from USA President Obama, "Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, program will end." I like this quote as, to my interpretation, it means that I'll make it happen only if it is beneficial to the country (or in my context, the unit).
Currently, my term as a Scout Leader, it's rather been seen as 'slack'. Actually, I don't know, perhaps its the way I want things to be. I know lots of people is going to read this, but well, whatever.
Let me explain my vision for White Stag:
1. To be self-sufficient in running of the unit by the PLC, with the assistance in training from the Ventures, Rovers and Leaders section.
2. To allow the 4 sections to cohesively work together so as to bring the whole troop to a whole new level of Scouting.
3. To ensure that all White Stags are given the opportunity to exercise their leadership, adventures and ideas of Scouting.
Wolf told me once, "Do it to make things happen, not just talk about it." I agree, so many people can talk about big ideas and dreams, however without doing it, how can one realize their ideas or dreams...?
Therefore, in White Stag, I would like to see the young boys and leaders to try out without the fear of making mistakes. Only through these mistakes, then will one learn to improve for their next stage in Scouting (be it in the unit, district, national or international level).
Other quotes that I liked over the years include "We believe we can achieve". That was the quote and vision given by the then Principal Mr Sapii of Siglap Secondary School. It was really a point of inspiration for many of the Siglapians to work towards their dreams in life.
After all, in life, wherever and whenever we graduate from school... the ultimate aim is to be a good and useful citizen. A citizen of the World.
