Examinations... it's gonna be the last 2 papers soon... I guess after today's paper, I was really really convince that I'm losing it. Haha... people may question on my priorities as a student... but I'll question back what are your priorities in life? Some may like studying forever, some would like to go out there to work and do other bigger things, some would like to slack around and live life simply...
What do you envision yourself to be in the future? asked Wombat... Well, besides envision-ing yourself, what are the steps that you are going to take to achieve that envision?
Ambitions... people have tons of ambitions in their mind all the time. I have an ambition to be a pilot but my eyes couldn't make it... I have an ambition to be the richest man on Earth (with tons of cash) but I couldn't live that life happily as I know that I would be too engross in money making... I have an ambition to be a teacher but I know that my temper would give way as I do not have that much of a patience and tolerance... I have ambitions so do you... but what are you going to do about it to realise it?
Have you ever sit down by the pool side and dip one finger into the water? Do you see ripples moving outwards from that single point? Have you ever felt so strong about creating a revolution to change things around? Have you see something and commented that if I'm there, I would have done a better job?
A scout used to tell me that he (no one in particular) is sick and tired of seeing his unit doing boring activities that causes his unit to slide and die down... Well, if you can say that, why not you going about to change things around...
He commented, "It's not my decision to begin with, it lies with the unit members"... Well, I agree to a certain extent, there are many things beyond our control, however, instead of complaining or commenting, why not take that step forward to make things happen? Do you intend to see your unit, your 'root, your 'birthplace' to crumble to dust and lie in the history books only?
There are many historical persons that dare to make the difference... to make a change... their desires and strength to make things happen influences others to follow suit. How about you?
Well, brothers in scouting, whatever path with choose as long as we stay true to our belief as well as our 'roots' ... we'll always be fighting with honour and winning with pride. It doesn't really matter if you're from one unit or from other units, what matters most is what is Scouting to you? What do you see yourself in Scouting?
It's really sickening to hear about those bulls on loyalty and stuff... ain't we all brothers in the name of Scouting? so what we maybe from different unit or 'tribes'... ain't we fighting and living for the same cause? Let's talk about loyalty then, is staying in your unit that 'gave birth' to you means that you are loyal to the unit? Well, it seems like it, however if the intention to stay in the unit is wrong, no matter how loyal you are, you're just wrong...
Change the mindset first, look at the wider picture... do not be that frog in that well. As Scouts, we are train to be observant and also to look at things at a wider picture. Do not constraint yourself or your growth to just a limited set of stuff. Learning is more than just textbook and beliefs...
Russian Bear mentioned about grasping the point or the motto for Rovers. I agree, we have to stand by the motto we had in life... the very principle to keep us sane, in the first place. To keep us on the right path as well as to allow us to grow. Hi-5 brother!
Jedi once said: "Do or do not, there's no try"... no one is gonna wait for you to try. It's either now or never at times... Say it, do it... do not go back on your words, do not claim something that you know you can't keep to it. In the knights' era, when a knight makes an oath, he keeps to it... it's like honouring the oath with his life even if he is to die protecting it. Well, I don't mean that you have to die protecting whatever you claim, but at least honour it.
It really speaks a lot about a person who dishonour his oath or claim. Although he or she doesn't mind about the imagine, but think about it in a third person point of view, would people continue to trust you again? Yes, no, maybe?
To make things happen, that's what I envision myself to be. I'm improving myself to the best of my ability, it ain't just for scouts... it's for my life too! Would my brothers walk down this path with me to make miracles come true?
